Son's of Light

We’ve been speaking about us coming out of darkness, into the Light and we’re finding out that Light is Good. That Light represents life, salvation, the Commandments which brings righteousness, and the divine presence of God. We learned that Light symbolizes the Holy God and signifies God’s presence and favor, that Light is the revelation of God’s love through Jesus Christ and most importantly we’ve learned that God is Light, and that Jesus is the Light of the world.

This week we are going to talk about being Son’s of Light. This represents us being followers and believers of God the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

We are called to be Son’s of Light, Children of God.

1 Thessalonians 5:5 Amplified Bible (AMP)

5 for you are all sons of light and sons of day. We do not belong to the night nor to darkness.

The Son’s of disobedience is the opposite of the Sons of light.

Ephesians 5:6

6 Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience. 7 Therefore do not become partners with them; 8 for at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light 9 (for the fruit of light is found in all that is good and right and true), 10 and try to discern what is pleasing to the Lord. 11 Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them. 12 For it is shameful even to speak of the things that they do in secret. 13 But when anything is exposed by the light, it becomes visible, 14 for anything that becomes visible is light.

Let’s do away with the unfruitful works of darkness, let’s no longer be yoked to darkness…

1 John 2:10 English Standard Version (ESV)

10 Whoever loves his brother abides in the light, and in him[a] there is no cause for stumbling.

Many of us women have kind hearts. We want to believe the best in people and as we grow as individuals, the people around us may not understand that we are seeing things differently than before. This may cause our relationships to be re-evaluated and at times we are moved in our spirit to be separated from those we once knew so that we can be the Son of Light (the Daughter) that God is calling us forth to be.

The Temple of the Living God

14 Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness? 15 What accord has Christ with Belial?[b] Or what portion does a believer share with an unbeliever? 16 What agreement has the temple of God with idols? For we are the temple of the living God; as God said,

“I will make my dwelling among them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. 17 Therefore go out from their midst, and be separate from them, says the Lord, and touch no unclean thing; then I will welcome you, 18 and I will be a father to you, and you shall be sons and daughters to me, says the Lord Almighty.”

There are many of us who want to live right before God but there's always someone around us that does not believe in God, nor believe in Jesus Christ. Therefore they are not encouraging us to live in righteousness before God. They are holding us back in going forth on this journey in peace and joy with the Lord and we will have to make a decision on what direction to take. Should we follow the leading of the Spirit or our own heart? Our heart can speak volumes that would not allow for us to see the truth but the Spirit is Truth and will lead us long the path that we are called to take. You can make the change and you can be happy. God will make ways out of know ways, and he will fight your battles as you go forth in him, trusting and believing in the Light, His Son Jesus Christ.

For God So Loved the World

16 “For God so loved the world,[i] that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God. 19 And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil. 20 For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his works should be exposed. 21 But whoever does what is true comes to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that his works have been carried out in God.”

We are called to be lights of the World.

Philippians 2:12 English Standard Version (ESV)

Lights in the World

12 Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, 13 for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.

14 Do all things without grumbling or disputing, 15 that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, 16 holding fast to the word of life, so that in the day of Christ I may be proud that I did not run in vain or labor in vain.

We are called to lights, we should not hide the Light.

Matthew 5:14

Salt and Light

14 “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that[b] they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.

1 Peter 2:9 English Standard Version (ESV)

9 But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.

The Armor of Light

Romans 13:11

11 Besides this you know the time, that the hour has come for you to wake from sleep. For salvation is nearer to us now than when we first believed. 12 The night is far gone; the day is at hand. So then let us cast off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light.

The armor of light is the armor of God.

The Armor of God

10 In conclusion, be strong in the Lord [draw your strength from Him and be empowered through your union with Him] and in the power of His [boundless] might. 11 Put on the full armor of God [for His precepts are like the splendid armor of a heavily-armed soldier], so that you may be able to [successfully] stand up against all the schemes and the strategies and the deceits of the devil. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood [contending only with physical opponents], but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this [present] darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly (supernatural) places. 13 Therefore, put on the complete armor of God, so that you will be able to [successfully] resist and stand your ground in the evil day [of danger], and having done everything [that the crisis demands], to stand firm [in your place, fully prepared, immovable, victorious]. 14 So stand firm and hold your ground, having [b]tightened the wide band of truth (personal integrity, moral courage) around your waist and having put on the breastplate of righteousness (an upright heart), 15 and having [c]strapped on your feet the gospel of peace in preparation [to face the enemy with firm-footed stability and the readiness produced by the good news]. 16 Above all, lift up the [protective] [d]shield of faith with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.

John 12:36 Amplified Bible (AMP)

36 While you have the Light, believe and trust in the Light [have faith in it, hold on to it, rely on it], so that you may become sons of Light [

being filled with Light as followers of God].”

We can go forth with God believing in His perfect plan for our lives, becoming the Son's of Light that God created us to be!
