Peacemakers

With all that is going on in today’s world, who needs peace? In the book of Ephesians, scriptures tell us that Jesus alone is our peace. He came to preach peace to those who were far away and to those who were near. If we are in Christ Jesus, we too should offer the peace of God. We too should preach peace to those amongst us.

God is calling us beyond what our flesh can see. God is calling His children to be peacemakers. Peace is a fruit of the Spirit. Many have walked away from the fruit of the Spirit and have entered into the ways of the world. Many are walking in turmoil [confusion] but God is not a God of confusion but of peace. Paul said “What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.” Philippians 4:9. Paul was encouraging the saints to practice the things of God. Encouraging the saints to rejoice and to let your gentleness be evident to all; knowing God who is our peace will be with us.

A peacemaker does not walk in strife or discord. A peacemaker seeks peace with a pure heart. A peacemaker will walk in the fruit of the spirit [love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness and faithfulness] willing to listen first and seek understanding. A peacemaker will have mercy for others, just as our Lord Jesus Christ has given mercy unto the world.

Matthew 5:9 tells us that peacemakers are blessed and will be called the children of God.

yBeing a peacemaker pleases God. It brings you into right standing with God. God will bless you in ways that you cannot imagine. The book of Proverbs is a book that is considered “Wisdom”. It shares that when a man’s ways pleases the Lord, he makes even his enemies to be at peace with him. God will protect you as you walk in this place of making peace.

Paul said “If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all.” If we live peaceably, we have to carry the peace of God. We have to draw close to God so that we can be more like Jesus.

God is calling us into a deeper place with Him. Why? The world needs peace, love and understanding. The world needs Jesus. If peace is a fruit of the Spirit, let us carry peace. Let’s be the peacemakers that God is calling us forth to be.

Psalm 119:165 - Great peace have those who love your law; nothing can make them stumble.

James 3:17 - But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere.

Isaiah 32:17 - And the effect of righteousness will be peace, and the result of righteousness, quietness and trust forever.
