Perverting Justice: A False Witness

This week while preparing a message, God allowed for me to stumble across scriptures about keeping His Commandments. One Commandment stuck out to me the most; 16 “You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor - Exodus 20:16

This is running rampant in the world today. The enemy is using this as a weapon against the righteousness of God to bring injustice. Many lives are being destroyed due to evilness in one’s heart.

Do you know how God feels when someone becomes a false witness? He hates it and would suggest for us to not partake of such a thing.

Exodus 23:16

16 These six things the Lord hates, Yes, seven are an abomination to [h]Him: 17 A[i] proud look, A lying tongue, Hands that shed innocent blood, 18 A heart that devises wicked plans, Feet that are swift in running to evil, 19 A false witness who speaks lies, And one who sows discord among brethren.

Does any of this sound familiar? Have you read, heard or witness an injustice due to someone bearing a false witness? Articles that are being reported are no longer based on facts but with speculation and opinion only. This plays a big role in what people can believe and think. Many have chosen to believe the lies of a false witness over the truth.

People are rising in anger, allowing themselves to be led in the flesh and not the spirit. This is causing division amongst the people and this is a part of the enemy’s plan, to cause injury to one’s soul, stirring up hatred, bringing harm and destruction to one’s character.

Can you understand why God placed this particular command within the Ten Commandments for us to follow? God knew the destruction behind it.

Becoming a false witness has become second nature to some. You would be surprised how many of us come into agreement with becoming a false witness out of ignorance sharing our thoughts and opinions about something we think we know.

God does not want this for His people. He wants us to walk upright in all of our ways. Let’s agree to not pervert the truth but to seek after the righteousness of God, keeping ourselves covered from evilness that would allow for us to become a false witness.

Exodus 23:1 - “You shall not circulate a false report. Do not put your hand with the wicked to be an unrighteous witness. 2 You shall not follow a crowd to do evil; nor shall you testify in a dispute so as to turn aside after many to pervert justice.
