Out of Darkness, Into the Light pt. 2

Just as a recap Out of Darkness, we spoke about Jesus being the light of the World.

[ Jesus Is the Light of the World ] Once more Jesus addressed the crowd. He said, “I am the Light of the world. He who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life.”

In research, I ran across an article that gives us a deeper understanding about the Light and what it represents ( written by Michael J. Wilkins )

Light Is Good. It represents:

1) Life

Psalm 56:13 Amplified Bible (AMP)

13 For You have rescued my soul from death, Yes, and my feet from stumbling, So that I may walk before God In the light of life.

2) Salvation

Isaiah 9:2 Amplified Bible (AMP)

2 The people who walk in [spiritual] darkness [a]Will see a great Light; Those who live in the dark land, The Light will shine on them.

3) The Commandments

Proverbs 6:23 Amplified Bible (AMP)

23 For the commandment is a lamp, and the teaching [of the law] is light, And reproofs (rebukes) for discipline are the way of life,

4) The Divine Presences of God

Exodus 10:23 Amplified Bible (AMP)

23 The Egyptians could not see one another, nor did anyone leave his place for three days, but all the Israelites had [supernatural] light in their dwellings.

Light symbolizes the holy God. Light signifies God's presence and favor ( Psalm 27:1 ; 2 Cor 4:6 )

Psalm 27:1 Amplified Bible (AMP)

A Psalm of Fearless Trust in God.

A Psalm of David.

27 The Lord is my light and my salvation— Whom shall I fear? The Lord is the refuge and fortress of my life— Whom shall I dread?

2 Corinthians 4:6 Amplified Bible (AMP)

6 For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” is the One who has shone in our hearts to give us the Light of the knowledge of the glory and majesty of God [clearly revealed] in the face of Christ.

Job 22:28 Amplified Bible (AMP)

28 “You will also decide and decree a thing, and it will be established for you; And the light [of God’s favor] will shine upon your ways.

1 Timothy 6:16 Amplified Bible (AMP)

16 He alone possesses immortality [absolute exemption from death] and lives in unapproachable light, whom no man has ever seen or can see. To Him be honor and eternal power and dominion! Amen.

God is light ( 1 John 1:5 ) and the Father of lights ( James 1:17 ) who dispels darkness.

James 1:17 Amplified Bible (AMP)

17 Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above; it comes down from the Father of lights [the Creator and Sustainer of the heavens], in whom there is no variation [no rising or setting] or shadow [a]cast by His turning [for He is perfect and never changes].

Light is the revelation of God's love in Jesus Christ and the penetration of that love into lives darkened by sin ( 1 John 1:5-7 ). Jesus declares that he is "the light of the world" ( John 8:12 ; 9:5 ).

John 9:5 Amplified Bible (AMP)

5 As long as I am in the world, I am the Light of the world [giving guidance through My word and works].”

Through the Word of God light came into existence ( Gen 1:1-3 ), and through the revelation of God in Jesus Christ the Word brought light to humanity.

The Light of Salvation and Life for Believers Those responding to the light are ushered into the sphere of life in which darkness is dispelled. Salvation brings light to those in darkness Matt 4:15-16 ).

Matthew 4:16 Amplified Bible (AMP)

16 “The people who were sitting (living) in [spiritual] darkness have seen a great Light, And for those who were sitting (living) in the land and shadow of [spiritual and moral] death, Upon them a Light has dawned.”

Jesus Christ is life-giving light, in whom is life ( John 1:4 ), and those who follow him "will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life" ( John 8:12 ).

Stay tune for more Out of Darkness, Into the Light...
