I Am Who You Say I Am

Being raised in a family who did not know the LORD, left me to face many challenges throughout my adult years. As a child being exposed to the things of the world, I had no knowledge of God. No one told me that I belonged to God, nor that He was and is the ultimate source of my life. I had to face life head on, learning through many trials and error.

Many of us wrestle with God. Why? Having grown up apart from God made it hard for us to believe that we belong to the Father. We wrestle with the thoughts that there could be more, that there could be better and when God comes and holds us close, telling us who we are in Him, we say, “No, God! I don’t think that’s who I am”. We take a step back as if we cannot accept the words that God whispers in our hearts. Words like “I love you. You are mine. I am yours”. God touches us with His love and because of the dirt we know is there we feel unworthy and doubt his love.


Truth? God wants us to live in the revelation of what He has spoken over our lives from the foundation of the world. He wants us to trust and believe that we are His children. I know that you may have not known God to be your Father but that doesn’t change the truth that He is. It doesn’t mean that He has not been watching over you, protecting you all the days of your life. He never left you nor forsook you.


We are who we are in the Lord. We are loved by God. We are called and chosen by Him to fulfill a plan and a purpose here on earth. We are appointed and anointed in Him to do the greater works. We indeed can fulfill our destiny in Christ.

Can you believe this today? Can you rest in this truth?

We cannot change the Father’s heart for us. Paul said, “...Do you think anyone is going to be able to drive a wedge between us and Christ’s love for us? There is no way! Not trouble, not hard times, not hatred, not hunger, not homelessness, not bullying threats, not backstabbing, not even the worst sin…None of this fazes us because Jesus loves us. I’m absolutely convinced that nothing—nothing living or dead, angelic or demonic, today or tomorrow, high or low, thinkable or unthinkable—absolutely nothing can get between us and God’s love because of the way that Jesus our Master has embraced us.” Romans 8: 31-39 {MSG}


1 Peter 2:9-10 -But you are the ones chosen by God, chosen for the high calling of priestly work, chosen to be a holy people, God’s instruments to do his work and speak out for him, to tell others of the night-and-day difference he made for you—from nothing to something, from rejected to accepted.
